That's how Strong my Love Is, A. Keys

Some people they call me crazy
For fallin' in love with you
They can take me and lock me away baby
Cuz there's nothing those bars can do

I'll be the rising moon after the setting sun
just to let you know you'll always have someone
I'll be the clear as day when the rain is done
So you'll always know

Through the shake of an earthquake
I will never fall
That's how strong my love is
Like a shift through the storm
we can risk it all
That's how strong my love is

I used to feel kinda lonely
There's a world that can be so fake
All it matters I'm tellin' you
It's you and me only
And the fortress from love we make

I'll be the water you need
in the desert land
Just to let you know you'll always have my hand
I'll be the woman you need to be a better man
So you'll always know

Through the shake of an earthquake
I will never fall
That's how strong my love is
Like a shift through the storm
we can risk it all
That's how strong my love is

Ooooh Can nothin' break us down
Oooh Cuz we are heaven bound
Like a mountain standing tall
Immovable we're here to stay
Ooooh Can nothin' get in the way

Through the shake of an earthquake ( I will never fall)
I will never fall ( I will never fall)
That's how strong my love is (that's how strong my love my love is)
Like a shift through the storm
we can risk it all (We can risk it all Ooooh)
That's how strong my love is (Looove is)

Through the deepest waters I won't let you drown
That's how strong my love is
There's a balloon in the sky that'll never come down
That's how strong my love is
That's how strong my love is
That's how strong my love is

Inauguration: Barack Obama

It was the most remarkable thing I ever witness…

A very cold morning, the journey began at 5am in the morning; I dressed in several layers, two scarves, three socks, long johns, leggings, a cap an extra pullover jacket and a walking coat then headed to the metro station. Once there, we scurried underground into the train station and waited patiently in line to purchase a facecard and was greeted by a pleasant attendant of the Metro Station who willingly placed enough money on our cards for a round trip.

Then we proceeded through the terminal and waited for the train, caught the second train and was able to snag a seat amidst the crowds. While, riding my Aunt and I tried to determine which stop was suitable and I asked this charming gentleman if he was familiar with DC and if he could suggest the most practical stop. He obliged. He recommended a stop and we continued to converse.

A quarter of an hour later, we arrived at the L’Enfant Plaza station and departed into a sea of people. The crowd on the terminal was massive and we proceeded in the direction of the people because we had no other choice. Snuggled close together we made penguin steps towards the gates in between long tirelessly waits as the attendant voice rung out over the loud speaker "be patient; the gates will continue to open and close in order to manage the crowd." An hour later, and after young children complained, whined, cried and one little boy told his mother he “rather be in school” we made our way through the single isle gates to a disabled escalator. As we trotted up the escalator another attendant encouraged us by saying "you can do it" and the crowd chanted Obama’s slogan "Yes We Can!" There were three escalators ascending up and out of the terminal and we were on the middle escalator. On the right, an elderly woman had hutched over apparently exhausted and out of breath and as we continued up the stairs a gurney was being passed down. On the top of the platform was an overweight lady seated to my left hyperventilating. I whispered a silent prayer for their safety and kept moving.

We landed on the streets along with a couple other hundred people who departed the station with us and immediately blended in with the many others. I gave off a big sigh of relief because to be stuck inside the underground train station for nearly an hour with feet warmers isn’t exactly pleasant. It felt like I was standing on coals.

The gentleman on the train ride took the initiative and led us towards the Capitol. He walked briskly through the swarm as I followed snapped pictures and looked on in amazement at the number of people gathered for the same cause. We made our way to the Washington Mall and approached a black link chain were a National Security Guard lifted it; we knelt down to go under and rose into a field of people: women, men, boys and girls; black, white, yellow and red; tall, short, thin and round we were surrounded, encompassed by people! No matter which direction you turned there were people.

Scott, our private escort funneled us through the audience and we landed parallel to the Washington Monument. We took a spot near a mother and her children, a young girl about 6 years old who was seemingly miserable and a teenage boy who was inattentive to the crowd around him busily trying to stay warm. They sat in folding chairs with a bright orange yellowish blanket draped over their legs. My Aunt was so disturbed by the little girl’s shivers and running nose that she was impelled to remove her hand warmers and give them to the child – her motherly instinct. The little girl’s mom respectfully declined her offer.

And then we waited. It was close to 10 am and we had to wait for an hour and a half before the swearing in ceremony began. This hour in a half was extremely long. I stood there marching in place, doing leg and back stretches. I was restless so I sat on the ground for a moment. Scott shook his head disapproving but I did not care; I needed to rest my legs. After a short while, I was back on my feet again; still waiting, sniffling because my nose was running, and i was hungry – we skipped breakfast and there wasn’t a vendor in sight. I heard someone screaming ‘peanut’ and mistook it for someone selling peanuts. I got excited as I looked to see which way it was coming from but it was just a nickname for a person they were calling. My Aunt thought this was very funny – I swore I was delusional.

Finally, Aretha Franklin graced the stage and sang the patriotic tune of My Country Tis’ of Thee followed by a pre-recorded song by a group named Yo Yo Ma. Then a series of people were ushered in as I stood on my tip-toes to catch a glance at the screen. I saw Beyonce and Jay Z between the snow caps and large jackets that hinder my view from my 5 foot stance. I also saw P Diddy. Next came the political heads: the Senate then the House of Representative followed by the former living presidents in chronological term order – Carter, Bush, Clinton, and W. Bush all escorted by there respective wives. Upon first sight of George W. Bush a woman to my left began singing ‘Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye’ and before you knew it the entire crowd was singing along – I did not participate I thought it was bit disrespectful. I got a shot of my very own, the governor of Florida – Charlie Christ. Then the cutesiest two little girls ever, decked out in their J Crew winter apparel followed by their mother, first lady Michelle Obama dressed up in a spring green assemble.

First came the swearing in of Joe Bidden – short and sweet. Subsequently, the memorable swearing in of Barack Obama, which officially declared him the 44th President of United States of America. The crowd roared and celebrated as strangers hugged and gave each other high fives!

Shortly after, Rick Warren said a magnificent prayer which concluded with the Lord’s Prayer and the crowd recited it together. It was very encouraging and significant but short lived because after Amen we stood there for a brief moment to take it all in and began to retrack our earlier steps. With Scott back on the job we headed toward the L’Enfant station. My senses got the best of me because with all the road closures and detours we landed on the road to heaven. It was filled with the sweet scent of food vendors selling gourmet, all premium beef hot dogs, pretzels and other snacks. Okay, it was not gourmet but for me who had not eaten all day this was fine dining. I found the vendor with the shortest line and within minutes I had order a hotdog, a sausage on a bun and a Gatorade. Around the corner from the vendors was the train station, when we arrived the line was beyond expected -- jam-packed. It must have been 25 people wide by 200 people deep. To cold to stand in line to wait we ended up inside the L’Enfant Hotel. This was short of a miracle because at this point I was experiencing hypothermia – maybe I am exaggerating a little but we had weathered 5 hours of 30 degree temperatures and I could not feel my pinky fingers. So we walked around the hotel and sat for a little while. I waited in the long line for the restroom and Scott used his iPhone to calculate the next closest Metro station.

This turned out to be the 5th or maybe even the sixth closest station. Each Metro station we passed, the line seemed to be getting longer and I was becomeing frustrated, tired and skeptical of our ‘tour guide’. We walked for nearly 5 miles and all the train stations had lines for blocks. My Aunt and I dragged along barley moving and slowing Scott and his girls down – the dead weight. My left knee was aching something awful and I had to walk with a slight limp. We ended up at Potomac Ave station but before we gave into this line we grabbed snacks at an Organic Food Store and I went to CVS for a snickers bar. At CVS, I saw two associates from back home trying to warm up too before braving the metro line.

But Scott was right, his strategy worked out well. We waited in line all of ten minutes and got five seats to accommodate each of us: Scott, his two twin’s daughters Ashley and Ann (very kind 16 year olds) and my Aunt and I. We arrived back at West Falls Church with historical memories and this story to share.

Opened my Eyes

I want to thank you for being the wipers to my eyelids

For clearing years of tears with your gentle words and deeds

You revealed your fondness, expressed feelings and showed you care

And despite of the future, I know you'll always be there.

You've opened my eyes in so many ways

I've lived in darkness for countless days

A man in pursuit of his heart

Not frightened to make your mark

Understanding my value lies beneath the presence

Buried deep in my soul – you were able to see my essence

Longing to be next to you

To re-live moments that felt true

When you stroked my hair lovingly

Held on to my every word and completed my poetry

Through engaging conversations from dust till dawn

And early morning wishes through yawns

You have unlocked my eyes

I am no longer blind

Rather, consumed by our emotional connection

yet, baffled because it developed in an inadequate duration

Humored by God's play in this

Knowing that despite the distant it'll be hard to resist..

But, in his Hand, I exist.

Knowing if it's planned it will subsist.

And if it doesn't amount to a thing

I am thankful to know how it felt – to have been wrapped in your wings

I know how it feels to be free

And now , I know how it feels to see.

Who really Cares?

I'm tried of caring for men who don't give a damn
check my track record; its a rerun
I am so numb a bullet won't hurt
I just considerate it fate
I'm not trying to change the plan
their actions and words went down two separate lanes
Am I to blame--naw, their the lames

My Heart Wasn't Enough

The affair of a boy and girl;

A one-way vow of fidelity.

Loyalty on her part for three hundred and sixty five days

Complete complacency.

Her priority; one of his options;
Began in San Anton'
Where he swept her off of her feet.

She had dreams to wed, thee

To be together, forever

Unwavering love with no conditions

Now, able to see

It’s transparent...

After, days, weeks, and months of waiting in vain

She nearly forgot what was so great

Lost herself in the mayhem

Displaced

Imprisoned by her own words

She needed to escape

~~~
She does not give a damn one way or another.
Ready to concede
Built up the nerve, the gumption;
Not concerned with the outcome.
Only expectation is friendship
Explanation: not required;
She doesn’t owe him a thing!
Just a respectful departure
Pop the strings,
And move forward
~~~

No longer pressed with being his wife;

Content with a friend for life.

It has truly been nice

She admits, the sex will be missed

Questions: How did it get to this?

Occasional hellos,

Conversations unspoken,

Family, don't know 'em;

Just lust—

Bondless like dust;

Freely roaming

~~~
A while ago, she wondered;
“why can’t we be more than friends”
As Estelle writes;
A good man no doubt
Just not her happily ever after
The tale is short a fairy
Another failed attempt
Just the reality:
That it will never be!
~
You can't cheat fate
Destiny has its own date
Some undeclared mate
And despite, invested time
Surrendered disappointment
Unsettled emotions
Lonely nights
This damsel in distress
Who longed to be caressed
Went days pondering and yearnings
Is ready to quit!
=======
P.S.
Content with her efforts
Left nothing unsaid;
Clearly misunderstood!
words imprisoned
my words are in chains
shackled and locked away
in the depths of a prison chambers
trapped, silenced
abandon
I AM MAN
I need you!
I need you!
I desire a realtionship with you
I can't exist without you, I've tried but there is no one quite like you.
I want to know all about you, your life!
I need you with me day and night
I need to know you will watch over and protect me;
That you will fulfill my needs and make me complete!
I want to talk with you, tell you all my troubles, concerns & worries.
I need you to listen and offer a helping a hand.
I want to show you my love and faithfulness, openly.
And I want you to return this love graciously.
I want to build a lasting relationship
I want it to be unwavering, patient and forever...
Lord, I need you!
I thank you
I praise you
I trust you
I love you
Aquarius: The Water Carrier
Aquarians basically possess strong and attractive personalities. They fall into two principle types: one shy, sensitive, gentle and patient; the other exuberant, lively and exhibitionist, sometimes hiding the considerable depths of their character under a cloak of frivolity. Both types are strong willed and forceful in their different ways and have strong convictions, though as they seek truth above all things, they are usually honest enough to change their opinions, however firmly held, if evidence comes to light which persuades them that they have been mistaken. They have a breadth of vision that brings diverse factors into a whole, and can see both sides of an argument without shilly-shallying as to which side to take. Consequently they are unprejudiced and tolerant of other points of view. This is because they can see the validity of the argument, even if they do not accept it themselves. They obey the Quaker exhortation to "Be open to truth, from whatever source it comes," and are prepared to learn from everyone.
Both types are humane, frank, serious minded, genial, refined, sometimes ethereal, and idealistic, though this last quality is tempered with a sensible practicality. They are quick, active and persevering without being self-assertive, and express themselves with reason, moderation and sometimes, a dry humor.
They are nearly always intelligent, concise, clear and logical. Many are strongly imaginative and psychically intuitive, so that the Age of Aquarius, which is about to begin, is much anticipated by psychic circles as an age in which mankind will experience a great spiritual awakening. The Aquarian philosophical and spiritual bent may be dangerous in that it can drive the subjects into an ivory-tower existence where they meditate on abstractions that bear little relevance to life.
On the other hand it can help the many who have scientific leanings to combine these with the Aquarian yearning for the universal recognition of the brotherhood of man, and to embark on scientific research to fulfill their philanthropic ideals of benefiting mankind. When some cause or work of this nature inspires them, they are capable of such devotion to it that they may drive themselves to the point of exhaustion and even risk injuring their health.
Both types need to retire from the world at times and to become temporary loners. They appreciate opportunities for meditation or, if they are religious, of retreats. Even in company they are fiercely independent, refusing to follow the crowd. They dislike interference by others, however helpfully intended, and will accept it only on their own terms. Normally they have good taste in drama, music and art, and are also gifted in the arts, especially drama.
In spite of the often intensely magnetic, forthcoming and open personality of the more extrovert kind of Aquarian, and of their desire to help humanity, neither type makes friends easily. They sometimes appear to condescend to others and take too little trouble to cultivate the acquaintance of people who do not particularly appeal to them. They do not give themselves easily - perhaps their judgment of human nature is too good for that - and are sometimes accounted cold. But once they decide that someone is worthy of their friendship or love, they can exert an almost hypnotic and irresistible mental attraction on them and will themselves become tenacious friends or lovers, ready to sacrifice everything for their partners and be faithful to them for life. However, they are sometimes disappointed emotionally because their own high personal ideals cause them to demand more of others than is reasonable. And if they are deceived their anger is terrible. If disillusioned, they do not forgive.
Aquarians work best in group projects, provided that they are recognized as having a leading part in them. They have a feeling of unity with nature and a desire for knowledge and truth that makes them admirable scientists, especially astronomers and natural historians. They may excel in photography, radiography, electronics - anything connected with the electrical and radio industries - aviation and everything technical. On the arts and humanities side their progressive tendencies can be expressed in writing, especially poetry, and broadcasting, or as welfare workers and teachers. Some have gifts as entertainers and make good character actors (having an ability to mimic) and musicians. The more psychic among them possess healing gifts, especially in curing the mentally sick.
Among the faults to which they are liable are fanatical eccentricity, wayward egotism, excessive detachment and an inclination to retreat from life and society, and a tendency to be extremely dogmatic in their opinions. Aquarians can be a threat to all they survey or a great boon for humanity in general. Circumstances - for example, continuous opposition to a cause they hold dear - may cause the atrophy of the openness of mind that is one of the Aquarian's most attractive traits. They may express a lack of integrity in broken promises, secretiveness or cunning. Simmering anger and resentment, rudeness or, worse, a tense, threatening silence which may suddenly burst out in eruptions of extreme temper, these are all part of the negative side of the Aquarian. This can also reveal itself in a sustained hatred for enemies that is capable of enlarging itself into a misanthropy toward the whole of mankind.
Senator Ted Kennedy
Spoken best by President Obama:
Tiffany --
Michelle and I were heartbroken to learn this morning of the death of our dear friend, Senator Ted Kennedy.
For nearly five decades, virtually every major piece of legislation to advance the civil rights, health and economic well-being of the American people bore his name and resulted from his efforts.
His ideas and ideals are stamped on scores of laws and reflected in millions of lives -- in seniors who know new dignity; in families that know new opportunity; in children who know education's promise; and in all who can pursue their dream in an America that is more equal and more just, including me.
In the United States Senate, I can think of no one who engendered greater respect or affection from members of both sides of the aisle. His seriousness of purpose was perpetually matched by humility, warmth and good cheer. He battled passionately on the Senate floor for the causes that he held dear, and yet still maintained warm friendships across party lines. And that's one reason he became not only one of the greatest senators of our time, but one of the most accomplished Americans ever to serve our democracy.
I personally valued his wise counsel in the Senate, where, regardless of the swirl of events, he always had time for a new colleague. I cherished his confidence and momentous support in my race for the Presidency. And even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal illness, I've benefited as President from his encouragement and wisdom.
His fight gave us the opportunity we were denied when his brothers John and Robert were taken from us: the blessing of time to say thank you and goodbye. The outpouring of love, gratitude and fond memories to which we've all borne witness is a testament to the way this singular figure in American history touched so many lives.
For America, he was a defender of a dream. For his family, he was a guardian. Our hearts and prayers go out to them today -- to his wonderful wife, Vicki, his children Ted Jr., Patrick and Kara, his grandchildren and his extended family.
Today, our country mourns. We say goodbye to a friend and a true leader who challenged us all to live out our noblest values. And we give thanks for his memory, which inspires us still.
Sincerely,
President Barack Obama
Reform a deformed health care system or ignore and postpone?
46 million Americans are SOL, as I write.
While the political bloods and crips battle this out.
Indecisive, males (a few females) clashing egos interfering with the ultimate goal to reform: distracted by the political perks, benefits and monetary gain from their respective campaign contributors and lacking obligation to the Americans whom voted them into their seats!
I am not saying I am for or against the proposed plan nor, am I discrediting the value of the opposing views. Heck, I even have a few opinions of my own yet, I am 100% insured similar to the ones squabbling while so many go without. It’s because I understand the fundamental importance of reform: to put or change into an improved form or condition; to amend or improve by change of form or removal of faults or abuses.
Like many other radical and unpopular changes in our government a decision must be made to get things stirring. If we were waiting on the right Act some of us will still be in chains! With that, I’m compelled to say to those who are adamantly against, that bills and amendments still exist.
It is time to meet in the middle, check your ego, set party affiliations and loyalty aside and carve out the differences and get the many desperate people the care they so rightfully deserve, no more time to postpone, what if you were on hold, in this free world!
For the millions without -- a consensus for the have not’s!
Alone
I rather be entirely alone instead of longing for you;
the thought of being on standby is way over due.
The considerable void in my life -- day and night;
I cope better solely and I'm quite suffice.
I'm not saying I enjoy being single;
Just need to go on freely so I can mingle.
Be readily available for my knight;
Not partially involved every other Saturday night.
There is no bitterness or remorse;
The mere thought of you makes me amorous.
But my records of you offers the true, insight into your world;
Five years, no mate, perhaps you rather be alone or I'm not that girl?!?
Recipority
I'm not a lame
I peep your game
But it's a shame
How u think I'm tamed
however, I'm the one to blame
since its always the same
Fatherless little girl
I don't have a father, yet he lives: unavailable and always has...
What becomes of the fatherless little girl?
I lack guidance and a realistic understanding of manhood
So my expecations are high and built on ficticious, unconquerable
requirements.
I don't succumb to disrepect, low aspirations and bullshit.
Chivalry is a must along with many other traits.
Self sufficient and reliant I desire a mate
but I find fault and lack in all men I date.
~
My sister, however; settles for anything with balls and swag.
Lacking considerable thought and perference.
Blessed with two beautiful daughter who will have to overcome the same
painful status, fatherless. Although, deep down she desires companionship she
has convinced herself that she don't need the love.
~
My cousin requires dependency; refuses to work and rely soley on her
man, but remains unfaithful.
She is seeking pay back from him for many years of lack
She has a hidden resentment and pain that she is unaware of,
~
My best friend lived many years attracting the biggest spenders, I say
attracted because they seek out her and she benefits monetarily
but it doesn't satify the voids in her life.
Beautiful as she is, she still longs for tendernesse, affection and love, rightfully so!
Forced to contain her desires and remain resilient because of her two daughters who will have
to relive this life, fatherless.
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as a Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menance of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punsihment the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the conquer of my soul.
When you look at me
When I cry do you see my tears and pain
When I smile do you see my joy and happiness
When I frown do you see my anger and sorrow
When I laugh do you see my zest for life
When you look at me do you see me?
Expressionless Love.
Would you tell a lie to get me to stay?
or
Would you tell the truth and let me leave?
The Gem meets Diamond in the Rough...
When the gem meets the diamond in the rough; is it just in passing for only a brief moment to admire each others worth?
Gem: Something prized especially for great beauty or perfection b: a highly prized or well-beloved person.
Diamond in the Rough: one having exceptional qualities or potential but lacking refinement or polish.
Do Something!
I saw a well dressed elderly man with a severe hunch back while eating lunch today.
And as he passed a child snickered but another onlooker interjected "don't laugh lad, that man can't straighten his back and if you're not careful it can be you in the future" the child's mother nodded in approval further explaining the man's condition to her children.
Oddly enough, this gentleman appeared to be suited for work: suitcase in hand and I couldn't help but ponder how some people with impeccable health won't even make an effort to work or do anything slightly constructive: to at least show their appreciation of the blessings which have been bestowed upon them.
I say to the well & healthy yet lazy; get up and do something with your life or your privileges may be taken due to lack of use...
More than Friends, Estelle
Wonder why, wonder why, wonder why
Why must we pretend
Why can't we be more than friends?
Let's be more than friends.
What are you afraid of?
We've been playing games love
Together we crazy, good I mean baby, so why you gotta change up?
Baby when we make love, in ways I never made loveFeels so real,
but something still is missing from the picture
Everywhere I go, people wanna know.
wonder where I been, what's the deal with him
Is y'all really cool, is he just a friend
Now I'm asking you, tell me what it is
Look me in my eye, you don't have to lie
Must think I'm a fool, f**king round with you
Need to give me proof
I need to hear the truth
I just got one question for you
[CHORUS:]Wonder why, wonder why, wonder why
Why must we pretend
Why can't we be more than friends?
Let's be more than friends.
Wonder why, wonder why, wonder why
Why must we pretend
Why can't we be more than friends?
Let's be more than friends.
I think you see me as your play thing
Your Friday to Sunday thing
I'm not your weekend love, your secret f**k,
brother I'm not playing
And if I wanted to be part time,
I'd be working at the check-out line
At the liquor store, the picture show,
let me give you piece of my mind
[RAP:]
Why don't you put your arms around me huh?
Acting different when your friends around
See nah, when we together we fire and no I never tell my friends your a friend
You're my guy we're together uh huh
Calling my phone about we needed a break
How we gonna break up when we ain't willing to date?
You say you want that real woman,
when you get her you run
How come I never met the family like your dad and your mum?
And I don't wanna hear it, stop being a bitch!
You making me respect you less,
I'm really starting to switch
You're saying that and this and your heart broken
Yeah, you sound like shit like you're taking a piss
Somebody wanna see ya chick,
ya see the problem with dis isI'm waiting in vain,
I'm waiting for you to change
We ain't kicking it No, we ain't chilling NO, we ain't doing a ting blood
I'm more like a full time thing
Pretty Wings by Maxwell
Time will bring the real end of our trial
One day there'll be no remnants
No trace no residual feelings within ya
One day you won't remember me.
Your face will be the reason I smile
But I will not see what I cannot have forever
I'll always love ya I hope you feel the same.
Oh, you played me dirty, your game was so bad
You toyed with my affliction Had to fill out my prescription
Found the remedy I had to set you free.
Away from me
To see clearly The way that love can be
When you are not with me
I had to leave, I had to live
I had to leave, I had to live
[Chrous]
If I can't have you let love set you free
To fly yo pretty wings around
Pretty wings, your pretty wings
Your Pretty wings. Pretty wings around.
I came wrong you were right
Transformed your love into a like
Baby believe me; I'm sorry I told you lies
I turned day into night
Sleep till I die a thousand times
I should have showed you
Better nights, better times, better days
As I miss you more and more
[Chorus]
If I can't have you let love set you free
To fly your pretty wings around
Pretty wings, your pretty wings, your Pretty wings,
Pretty wings around so Pretty wings, your pretty wings (x4)
My holiday was pleasant yet uneventful! I'm glad 2 hear u r having a great time!!!
About the txt/vm @ 11pm on Saturday: I don't think it's wise to get too friendly with a married man besides it always begins innocent but somehow things can get carried away. I hope u understand.
Enjoy the rest of your trip & be safe!!!!
Haven't heard from you Tiffany. How is your 4th coming along? I hope all is well.
I'm hooking up with family and having a good time here in Chicago. The fireworks last night were great! Hung out with some of my old friends from school last night. We tore down the joint lol!
You aren't big on replying to texts anymore. What's up?
Intangible
Please dont touch me
Just let me be
The sense of feeling
Only validates I'm a being
Confirms that I have emotions
When I prefer to be dry from the lack of lotion.
I don't want to show affection
I don't want to feel or love
I want to be left alone I don't need a hug
Please don't touch me
I'm Lonely
I'm lonely and though I am afraid to admit it I desperately want my soul mate to
hold me.
adore me.
love me.
More than a physical attraction I need mental interaction. A loving embrace and the warmth of his sweet grace.
Not to be confused with lustful thrust but a subtle, passionate touch,
a companion and relationship that's built on trust.
I am tired of trying to make this pillow feel real...I know for certain this is not the true deal;
as it is hollow and I am feeling down right shallow.
Has he passed me by or is he in the days to come
perhaps someone I already confer?
For Heaven sake
send me my mate
and if I must wait at least send me a date.
Because if I continue to lie awake in this daze and wait I swear I will evaporate
Diffusing myself into sole existence without subsistence
for I am lonely and longing for my true soul mate.
Why men wait longer to get married? BNet Article
Ladies, have you ever wondered why your significant other hasn't popped "the question" yet? According to a recently released study conducted at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ, the average male is delaying his first marriage until he reaches 27, the oldest recorded age in the nation's history. The average woman on the other hand tends to marry when she is 25 years old.
So why are men waiting longer to get married?
Researchers of the National Marriage Project at Rutgers conducted focus group discussions with 60 single, heterosexual men of different backgrounds, ranging in age from 25 to 33. The study reveals that the top 10 reasons why men won't commit are:
1. They can get sex without marriage more easily than in times past.
2. They can enjoy the benefits of having a wife by cohabitating rather than marrying.
3. They want to avoid divorce and its financial risks.
4. They want to wait until they are older to have children.
5. They fear that marriage will require too many changes and compromises.
6. They are waiting for the perfect soul mate and she hasn't appeared yet.
7. They face few social pressures to marry.
8. They are reluctant to marry a woman who already has children.
9. They want to own a house before they get a wife.
10. They want to enjoy single life for as long as possible
Life's Blessings!
Life's Blessings!
As I look back over my 29 years I’m amazed at how incredible God is and that keeps me meek.
Out of my mother’s womb she had bloodshot eyes and pain I took her off her feet.
From early childhood games of hopscotch, double-dutch and hide-n-seek.
Raised in the inner city of Miami my mom taught me pride but I had little support and guidance I was weak.
Moved around a bit one hood to another changing from school to school Before entering my teens the father I loved walked out he didn't direct me just paid his monthly dues.
Grew up with a mean step dad my sisters and mom
constant ass whippings didn’t make me strong
instead I suppressed my anger and it steered me wrong.
Yet, I managed to excel academically earning good marks
But the grades wasn’t the best escape from the inner scars -- I was in the dark.
Left the nest at nineteen I had my reasons
Worked two jobs and in enrolled in school taking lessons.
Pulled of an Associate’s in 18 months
But life got tough, bills stacking high and the cost of life going up
Before long I’m an Auntie with the weight of an infant on my shoulders Five pounds four ounce is heavy when you step up to play father.
At a humble twenty one, I felt grown and tapped into Miami’s night life. 1, 2, 3 years of partying like a rock star I ignore any strife.
Still anxious not to get caught up in the rout and complacency Simultaneously, I was a student head deep in debt at an institution of higher education – Nova Southeastern University.
By the end of 2004 it was hard for me – the government discontinued the special pell grant at NSU
And subsequently, my last four classes became my sole burden it was like symptoms of a bad flu.
No money in my account, pointless to even ask my parents because I was self- supported and self-sufficient
I had no other choice but to stop and so I wept
Low-end job with great experience prepared me for a better opportunity Which lands me in the Big D full of humility!
Sweet Memories
Sweet Memories
I have the sweet memory of a good time
Where I was treated how I have longed to be treated
By a man of character, stance and gentleness
I have the sweet memory of Dallas where I will forever associate this memory too.
Where hospitality is a way of life and gentlemen thrive
I felt like a woman and it will forever be in my heart
In Texas everything is BIGGER
That includes generosity and the gentle hearts of their souls.
I have sweet memories of intimate dining and awkward introductions
To passionate, lustful encounters
From the soothing sounds of MJB and the RoC to
Clubbing from the clouds of Dallas where the city lights are beckoning me to stay
of Sunday lingering and sad goodbyes
I have sweet memories…
WHo will be there for me?
Who will be there for me?
Who will be there all night next to me from dust to dawn?
When I awake from sweet slumber with a yawn.
Sharing early morning strolls through mist in our lawn.
Who will simply love me and accept all that is within
When I just want to be held so tightly that our heart beats become synced
With love so sure we sketch each others initials on body parts in tattooed ink
To share morning joys and evening lasting pains
When my lovely fawn mane becomes brittle, gray strains
Who will be there for me?
So I can cast my fears away and let him see through my façade
And the many years of heavy guards
Who will be there to love me, cherish me, finesse me, caress me, kiss me
Someone I can’t stop,
Won’t stop loving, holding, spooning, adoring
Despite the challenges and obstacles I want to know who will be there for me
Not for awhile but forever, a lifetime and far beyond in the heavenly skies
I must not lie
For I feel I know who this he may be for he is forever in my dreams
If he is the one to be there for me then for him
I’ll be…
Ready and willing to give myself
Longing to feel love reciprocate
with nothing left
and not willing to live without him…
For what is life, without the one who will be there for me?
Am I Capable
Am I capable of picking a good man
See, I never picked a cheater or a beater.
And they were all believers
But not willing receivers
Did not taking me seriously
And sometimes misleading.
And though I sit and ponder…
Am I capable of picking the right man
That is willing to explore
The possibility of holy matrimony
To include a beautiful ceremony
Not afraid of committing
Trusts me when I say I’m ready for fidelity
longevity and a family.
Understands my complexity
And realizes it is not abnormality
But individuality.
Compassion and Love
Is what I want to share
To show you that I truly care
To be that gift as the scriptures reads:
when a man findeth a wife he findeth a good thing.
But am I Capable of choosing the right man
When I’ve only selected failed relationships
Never happily-ever-after just short of everlasting
Lacking compatibility
Is the justifiable message I use to maintain credibility?
When the truth is I don’t have a clue.
Do I scare them away or perhaps it’s intimidating to stay?
They always come back wanting to replay
But at that point I desire no more
And I humbly ignore
Since to you I no longer belong.
I disconnect and never turn back
I walk away and feel no lack.
And continue to wonder?
Am I capable of choosing my lover?
I'm the Catch!
Shit, I'm the Catch.
Walking around detached without a latch.
As they gawk at me in awe of my charm and sex appeal. Too afraid to step to me because they can’t believe it’s real.
See, they don't make them like me anymore -- classy and sexy yet sophisticated.
And don't forget the confidence not to be confused with conceit because I am still flattered by a gentleman’s compliment.
Shit, I'm the Catch.
And I'm walking around without a latch
without my match.
They break they neck and do a double take; fix their eyes on my left side and are stunned when they don’t see a shine.
Intrigue by my cool ass vibe and reluctant smile; they wait to catch a glimpse of intellect when I part my lips.
and I whisper.. I'm the Catch.
Walking around free like a bird egg about to hatch.
So go on and devise your plan your scheme to wed thee
or pull away from what God Made; this DNA is one of a kind -- sculpted and designed over time, sincere and very divine.
Like the taste of aged red wine…
Cause Shit, I’m the Catch!
Time Passing
Time Passing
I watched my life tick away today. No literally, I watched the second-hand rotate for several seconds that turned into minutes…and I wondered.
Why can’t time be rewound – it is racing away and I don’t have control over it
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
So I better seize this moment because it will not return to me…and I wondered.
Why is the second-hand red – is it because it reflects urgency. I am racing the clock but when is the race complete?
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
I watched my life past by today. No literally, I glared at the clock and watch each tick
tock bye.
Five minutes has passed I better haul ass, finish all my daily task because before long today will be gone.
There is no pause, no hesitation just constant revolving: trees bristling, wind whistling and my pen scribbling…
Tick-tock
Tick-tock.
Amen
A man has a strong conviction for Jesus Christ, the resurrected;
and knows no stronger affliction.
He expresses himself with a firm gentleness and believes every woman should be treated with dignity; is decisive and upholds his stance and relies solely on self-ability.
Has discernment and isn't easily deceived; and will never use power and force to be relieved.
Will tell you NO and affirm his choice with great restraint; resist whenever temptation
exist.
Amen
Shows these attributes through his story and actions;
if you watch his account closely it's revealed through his story.
Willingly fathers' his child with eagerness and pride; because through his child's life testament, he shines.
Considers a woman's beauty an asset but knows her soul is where the treasure lies;
a polite and gentle soul opens doors, helps her with her coat and soothe her pain when she cries.
He selects his wife with wit knowing there's only one worthy of mothering and loving through lifes journey; with a promise of fidelity for eternity.
Amen
I'm Grown
I'm Grown
I'm grown, I don't like to go to the club; I like to stay home.
I don't play many games and I don't mind being alone.
Stop asking me why I don't have kids;
like it is the norm to be a mom.
And even if it is so what -- I am grown.
Yes, I live alone, have a ride and hold my own.
Respect me and don't stress me; and no you can't bone.
I've been doing me for far too long to let you in my dome.
And if that's what you want then just move along.
Baby, I'm GROWN!
Last Night
I don’t want this to be confused as a sex thing
Cause boy I am very much into you.
last night was a beautiful script;
and you were right on cue.
I’m trying hard not to fall or be tripped;
Being that I don’t wanna be the only one who’s whipped
and my girl keeps telling me you just not into me
Cause I’m making it way to easy for you to be
but I never understood the use of mind games
and I figured as adults we can keep our feelings tamed
And if we are not on one accord
Then eventually we can just move on
But she like naw girl you gotta make him work!
'cause everybody likes a challenge and to be provoked.
then she asks ‘why he never comes by your home’?
And I'm like damn she just opened another can of worms.
But that’s my girl, she never miss a beat;
I told her the truth -- he says it to far up the street.
She was like pack your bags you have to stride;
cause if you ain’t worth the drive he's not worth the ride.
Besides you are way to fine -- you don’t have to be his sex thing;
And right now he has you on a very long string.
But deep inside she realize I have to decide;
Besides, she's tired -- we’ve been through this a half of dozen times.
Yet, I’m trying to hang on and give him a chance to see what is rare;
Although, by now; I should know he really just don’t care.
If he would just take a moment to notice my yearning stare;
He will see and begin to feel the love I’m trying to share.
Nevertheless, my feelings are deeper then these words; And usually love isn't returned until I'm gone.
I swear, whenever my heart catches up to my mind
I will let love drift until it finds…
Tee
Heartless
I've turned to stone. I'll let the ink bleed and the words cry, for now on.
